HubSalt signs major green energy agreement

Pakistan’s industrial sector moved a step closer towards energy self-reliance after HubSalt signed a landmark agreement with Chinese renewable energy company Livoltec to install a hybrid solar and battery storage system.
The agreement was signed in Karachi by HubSalt Chief Executive Officer Ismail Sattar and Livoltec Asia-Pacific Director Max Ma. Under the arrangement, the project will be implemented on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis through Optimizen in collaboration with Livoltec.
The project includes the installation of a 1.44-megawatt solar photovoltaic system integrated with a 2.35 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system. Officials said the initiative would significantly reduce the company’s dependence on imported diesel and improve long-term operational efficiency.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ismail Sattar described the project as a transformative step for Pakistan’s industrial sector and renewable energy transition. He said the initiative aligns with the company’s long-term strategy for sustainable industrial growth and environmental responsibility.
According to company officials, the hybrid energy system is expected to save nearly 360,000 litres of diesel annually, helping reduce fuel import costs and pressure on Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves.
The project is also expected to deliver major environmental benefits by cutting carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2,000 tonnes every year, equivalent to planting approximately 90,000 trees. HubSalt further plans to participate in international carbon markets through recognised certification systems such as Verra and Gold Standard.
Livoltec and Optimizen representatives reaffirmed their commitment to completing the project ahead of schedule, expressing confidence that the partnership would strengthen renewable energy cooperation between Pakistan and China while promoting green industrial development in the country.
